Youth Ministries

The Youth Ministries of Second Baptist Church has made a commitment to disciple all youth in order for them to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through a loving and caring environment while, seeking God first. The ministries' overall goals are to:

  • Minister to all the spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical needs of the youth.
  • Usher the youth into a relationship with God.
  • Impart into the youth the spiritual disciplines, that will propel them higher into God.
  • Provide opportunities for youth to minister to the Body of Christ.
  • Partner with the caregiver of the youth to fulfill their role as the ordained parents of the youth of God.

The following ministries are part of the Youth Ministries of Second Baptist Church and are open to youth ages 5 - 23 who are members of the church and/or community :

Children's Church

Children Church is open to youth between the ages of 4 and 11 and is held on the second and fourth Sundays (excluding the month of August) in the Thomas E. Veal Multipurpose Center beginning at 10:00am. The format for children church services promotes praise, worship, and teaching that will evetually lead the youth to understand and participate in the main worship service.

Youth Usher Board

The Youth Usher Board instructs the youth of the church on how to serve and assist in the worship service. It is their goal to promote excellence in worship and praise while empowering the youth to be leaders in the church.

Fellowship Ministry

The Fellowship ministry was established to provide Christian fellowship for the youth of the church and community that will enhance spiritual and social growth of the youth and their families, seeking God first. Fellowship activities include but are not limited to bowling, basketball game outings, Mall Madness, and amusement park excursions

 

Basketball Program

 

The SBC Spirits practice every Friday from 7:00pm - 9:00pm at the YMCA, Paterson, NJ.The team is open to young men and women between the ages of 7 and up who are interested in basketball. Annually, the team participates in a scholarship tournament against an area church and have won each year.

 

Girl Scouts

 

Girl Scouts enables young girls to build courage, confidence, and character in order to make the world a better place. Meetings begin in September and continues throughout the school year. Young ladies between the ages of 5 - teens are encouraged to attend meetings on Wednesdays from 6:30pm - 8:00pm at the Thomas E. Veal Multipurpose Center.

 

Parents Anonymous Support Group

 

The Parents Anonymous Support Group is affliated with the Parent Anonymous Network. The mission of the group is to provide a safe, confidential, and supportive environment for parents who are stressed and need support; in addition to providing parenting skills in a professional atmosphere while seeking God first. Support group meetings are held on Saturdays from 2:00pm - 4:00pm at the Thomas E. Veal Multipurpose Center.

The Youth ministries of Second Baptist Church are producing youth that believe in God, to receive the power of the Holy Spirit, in order to relieve the suffering of the lost youth of this generation, so they can achieve the fullness of God.
