Outreach Ministries

The Outreach Ministries of Second Baptist Church have been established to promote the vision of the church in the area of help missions and social ministry. "For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you took care of Me; I was in prison and you visited Me." Matthew 25: 35-36. During the spring and summer months, the Outreach Ministry ministers to the community with scripture, song, and witnessing in the church parking lot, as well as, on the streets of the surrounding community. Tracts are always available in the church lobby, please feel free to take one.

The ministries that fall under the department of Outreach Ministries are as follows:

Community Feeding and Clothing Ministry

On Saturdays (except before the first Sunday) between the hours of 11:30 am - 2:00 pm, meals and clothing are provided for those persons in the community who are in need or homeless. This is done at no cost to the recipient.

Senior Citizen and Nursing Home Visitation Ministry

The mission of the Visitation Ministry is to share the love and the life changing message of Jesus Christ to those the world has forgotten. It is the ministry's goal to bring the church to those living in nursing homes, as well as those members who are unable actively participate in the church's worship services.

Youth Detention Center Ministry

The overall objective for the Youth Detention Center ministry is to change the lives of incarcerated youth through the ministry of the living Word of God, seeking God first. The members of the ministry render monthly spiritual services to the youth at the Passaic County Youth Detention Center. It is their objective that the monthly services would be life changing to youth who are incarcerated.

Christmas Love Tree

The Christmas Love Tree ministry partners with the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services in order to provide children and families toys, gifts, and food during the holiday season. Families are invited to a holiday dinner where the festivities are overwhelming. Contributions and assistance is always welcome. Please see Ms. Doris Arnett-Gary for further information.
