F AITHF IRST MINISTRIES
of
Second Baptist Church
Acknowledging God First ~In All Things, At All Times
The church's two-fold objective is as follows:
- To encourage a FAITHFIRST way of living
- through the preaching and teaching of the gospel
- through the Christian Education ministries
- through our conversations, projects, and activities
- To expound upon FAITHFIRST principles of living by
- giving God the first of our time
- giving God the first of our talent
- giving God the first of our tithe
The church's three-fold mission is as follows:
- Faith - develop an unwavering faith in "God-First"
"Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering;
(for he is faithful that promised)"- Hebrews 10:23
- Fellowship - to establish a daily fellowship with "God-First"
" This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein; for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success." - Joshua 1:8
- Favor - to acknowledge publicly the favor of "God-First"
" I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad." - Psalm 34: 1-2
The vision of Second Baptist is stated as:
"A commitment to Educate, Train and Build Ourselves and Our Communities ~ Seeking God First."
The church's ultimate calling is to first know, understand,
dedicate their lives to, and serve God. The scriptural basis of this
statement is taken from
Matthew 6:33: "But seek ye first the kingdom of
God and His righteous; and all these things shall be added unto you."
Our
church is committed to providing resources, opportunities and services that will
educate, train and revitalize its people and communities.
Rev. Alexander McDonald, III, D. Min., Pastor
