Life Changing Fellowship (formerly Sunday School)

The goal of Life Changing Fellowship is to provide Christian Education, training and development for each sector of the church and community population collectively as well as individually in a fun and relaxed environment. Classes begin at 9:00am weekly for children and adult. Additionally, throughout the year, the events relative to the different holidays are given.

Vacation Bible School (VBS)

Vacation Bible School is held annually for two weeks during the month of July. VBS's goal is to make a God a reality and to give individuals a sense of relationship with Him.

Carol E. Dokes Scholarship Ministry

The Carol E. Dokes Scholarship is available to high school seniors of Second Baptist Church who will attend an accredited four-year college/university or two-year trade/vocational school upon graduating from high school.

 ** If the student attends a four-year college/university, the Scholarship provides $500 the freshman year and $200 per year for the next three years.

** If the student attends a two-year college/trade school, the Scholarship provides $200 the first year and $100 the second year.

These funds are intended to help with tuition, books and personal items.  Checks will be distributed to the parents in August once a copy of the student’s college registration has been received.

 

Recipients of the scholarship must meet the following criteria:

  1. Attended Second Baptist Church on a regular basis for at least one year when the scholarship is received.
  2. Attended Life Changing Fellowship, or Bible Study, on a regular basis and have been active in at least one other ministry while in high school.
  3. Applicants must have a grade point average of 2.5 or above.

Application Process

  1. The application must be submitted no later than the date given on the application.
  2. Each applicant will be contacted for an interview with the Scholarship Committee.
  3. Each applicant will be required to bring a copy of their grades to the interview.

** The scholarship will be continued if the student maintains a cumulative 2.5 GPA while attending a college/university or a trade/vocational school.  Students must submit their grades to the Scholarship Committee no later than the first weekend in August each year to receive the scholarship for the upcoming year.  You must notify the scholarship committee if you transfer or withdraw from college.
